Bank sync connects your accounts to Money Manager through Plaid, the same connection layer used by most US banking apps. Access is read-only: Money Manager can see transactions and balances but can never move money, and it never sees your bank password. New transactions import on their own and land in a category.

Read-only, always

Plaid grants view access only. No one, including Money Manager, can initiate a payment through the connection.

Your password stays with your bank

You sign in on your bank's own screen inside Plaid. Money Manager receives a token, never credentials.

Statements work too

No Plaid for your bank? Upload a PDF or CSV statement, even password protected, and import up to twelve months.

How bank sync works in practice.

What happens when you connect

You pick your bank from the Plaid list and sign in there. Money Manager exchanges the result for a read-only token, shows a Connecting to Your Bank banner while history imports, then keeps the account current in the background. Linked accounts are marked as bank accounts and sit next to your manual ones.

Imported, categorized, and counted against budgets

Each synced transaction gets a category from its merchant and description, so a Shell charge lands in Fuel and a Netflix charge lands in Entertainment. Recategorize anything with one tap, and the budgets update.

  • Checking, savings and credit cards
  • Balances update with each sync
  • Disconnect any time from the account page

Linked accounts unlock the savings insights

With a full history, Money Manager can spot recurring charges with no recent activity, hidden bank fees and credit card interest, and tell you what cancelling would save per year.

Getting started

Choose Connect Bank Account

From the plus menu on the dashboard, or from the Accounts page.

Sign in with Plaid

Pick your bank and sign in on the bank's own screen. Money Manager never sees the password.

Wait for the first import

A banner shows while recent history imports. Most banks finish in under a minute.

Review categories

Skim the imported transactions and fix any category you would file differently. The app remembers your choice.
